I’ve had so many Halloween costume ideas for Ladybug over the years… and I’ve never gotten around to doing any of them. Well this year, since Halloween parties aren’t really a thing due to Covid, I thought playing dress-up would be a fun way to celebrate the holiday. I also don’t know how many more Halloweens (if any) I will get with Ladybug as she continues to battle Leukemia, so I didn’t want to put these ideas off any longer. And I mean… what are the odds I’m going to have a dog in the future that looks like so many different things?! Ladybug’s coat made her the perfect cow to my farmer and Dalmation to my Cruella de Vil.
Even though I’ve had these ideas for years, bringing them to life was a VERY last-minute spur-of-the-moment thing. I went on exactly one shopping trip and lucked out by finding a $3 Ladybug costume at the Dollar Store and a Cruella wig at Party City. Other than those items, I just used what I had already around the house to put together the rest of the ensembles. The biggest struggle was cutting a sheet to look like a ghost. I think I’ve learned that I’m meant to be the mom that buys Halloween costumes rather than makes them… Oh well, I tried. :)
Thank you to my dear friend & talented photographer Cassie Wright for coming to the studio and snapping these for us.
