I was SO excited when Emily reached out to me about a boudoir session, because I could tell she really connected to my “why,” which is to show women how strong and beautiful they are. I want them to walk out of the studio with their head a little higher and a confidence that they can do anything they set their mind to.
We spent the entire time Emily was getting her hair & makeup done in the studio just chatting about the crazy year she’d had in 2020, the trials she had gone through, and how she was trying to regain her confidence.
I always tell people: the word “boudoir” doesn’t have to limit the session to lingerie or the stereotypical boudoir images you see on the internet. Before every session, I ask my clients what THEY feel the most confident in. Emily brought a blazer that made her feel like a boss, and a black dress that has always made her feel really sexy. I immediately knew I wanted to turn part of the session into a “glamour session,” very Sue Bryce inspired, which actually goes back to my roots in photography almost 8 years ago. Emily rolled with all my ideas and let me dress her up in some pieces from my client closet. All in all, it was SUCH a fun day, and I am so inspired by Emily’s vulnerability and resilience.
After the session, when Emily saw her final images, she surprised me by signing a full model release so that I could share these publicly. In her words, “I want everyone to see your amazing work… I’ve never felt so confident.” So here are some of my favorites from her session.
