This couple… where do I even begin? Alex contacted me before she had even chosen a wedding date or venue, and we immediately hit it off. One of the first things I learned about her & Will is that they’re ALSO crazy dog people. In fact, Alex & I spent the majority of our initial phone conversation talking about my sweet Ladybug… Alex is a professional dog trainer and offered me great advice on how to calm some of Ladybug’s anxieties. I then learned how she met Will, and it’s the cutest thing ever. While working for a dog trainer, Alex began filming a web series that focuses on the lives & work of police K-9 dogs. She met Will, a police officer, while filming for the show. They both work with dogs & plan to include one of their pups as a “flower dog” in their wedding. :)
While brainstorming venues with Alex for her upcoming wedding (I love when brides include me in the planning process!), I mentioned to her that I’ve always wanted to photograph at Grant Hill Farms. After looking it up, she also fell in love with the gorgeous gray & blue barn and decided to have her engagement photos taken there. What she DIDN’T know was that her soon-to-be fiancé (he hadn’t quite popped the question yet!) had already contacted me to coordinate a “surprise engagement session” for immediately after the proposal. I loved doing the shoot on the day they got engaged, because it was ALL sorts of joyful. And we lucked out with the perfect weather… the sun peaked through the clouds right in time for that golden hour glow that I adore.
I loved how silly & relaxed Will was during the session and how effortlessly he kept Alex smiling the entire time. I had to be on my toes to capture their quick, adorable interactions. And Alex’s engagement ring is stunning & holds such significance — the center diamond is her grandmother’s and the smaller diamonds are his grandmother’s! I’m already itching for their wedding day when I get to photograph these two again. September at Neverland Farms can’t come soon enough!
