Ally & Joe are both former Redcoats at the University of Georgia, which is how we know so many of the same people (I used to photograph on the sidelines of UGA football games and focused on the Redcoat Marching Band). Last October, I photographed Ally’s brother’s wedding and got to experience firsthand how fun their family & friends are. Needless to say, I was thrilled when Ally contacted me about her upcoming wedding at 9 Oaks Farm. She and Joe chose to have their engagement session partly on UGA’s north campus & then on Joe’s family property. I was nervous about the weather since it had consistently stormed every evening for the past week, but we were greeted by blue skies & gorgeous sunlight during our time on campus. I thought we were entirely in the clear until we walked out into a field on Joe’s property, and out of nowhere the sky turned dark — I mean, SUPER dark. Quickly the rain drops came, and I remember the conflicting feelings of 1) wanting to photograph a couple in the rain in a gorgeous field, and 2) wanting to run for cover or at least get my gear under an umbrella. We ended up doing a little of both, and I love how Ally & Joe remained in good spirits despite the unfortunate turn of events. I can’t wait to photograph their wedding next July!
