Buckle up, because Daniel was DETAILED when planning this surprise proposal to Ashley. They’re both big UGA fans, so Daniel knew it would be special to propose in Sanford Stadium… and he fabricated an entire “VIP Fan Experience” to pull it off.
The experience included a private tour for 2 of the West Endzone, including the locker rooms, tunnels, and player areas. It also included complimentary jerseys and professional photos during the tour (this is where I came in).
Daniel used his sister, who is also a longtime UGA fan, to call saying that she had won this experience in a raffle, but unfortunately she couldn’t make the date work, so she was wondering if Daniel & Ashley would be interested in taking her spot. Without hesitation, Ashley took the bait.
Daniel even got someone in UGA’s Athletic Association to send out an email outlining the details of this VIP Fan Experience so that it would look official (which Daniel’s sister then forwarded to them).
Fast forward and I got to meet Ashley & Daniel and enjoy the most thorough tour I’ve ever received of the facilities. The tour guide, Derek, shared many fun facts that I didn’t know even after having been in Athens for so long. We even got to go in Kirby Smart’s office.
I took some casual photos throughout the tour, and then I suggested they take a photo on the G on the 50 yard line… and this is when we presented the jerseys with Ashley’s new last name on them, and Daniel dropped to a knee to pop the question.
Needless to say, Ashley said yes! The rest of the time in Sanford Stadium was celebratory as we continued to take photos with the ring.
And afterward? Their friends were waiting downtown to continue the celebrations.
