Nikki & Mac grew up 10 minutes away from each other but didn’t actually meet until their sophomore year of college when Nikki transferred to Davidson. They began dating the last semester of their senior year, and Nikki had already committed to a finance job in New York after graduation. They overcame the difficulties of a long distance relationship as Mac frequently visited the big apple and worked around Nikki’s hectic banking schedule. Soon Mac also took a job in the Northeast, and two years later they moved into a shoebox apartment in Manhattan. Nikki decided to leave her finance career and instead pursue social work, and Mac got a job on Wall Street. It was March of 2015 when Mac proposed to Nikki, to which Nikki said “Oh no” several times until eventually a Yes came out. :)
My favorite part of hearing their story is when Nikki shared that she had desperately wanted to elope, but Mac convinced her to have a wedding… and then wasn’t all the helpful in the planning. :) I’d say they did an amazing job though, because their wedding was this past weekend and it was a DREAM. I can’t wait to share some of those images, but for now, here are photos from the day BEFORE the wedding.
Nikki & Mac decided to have a somewhat “destination” wedding in Charleston, so my team drove up first thing on Saturday to scope out the venue for Sunday’s wedding. We then headed to downtown Charleston to meet up with Nikki & Mac before their rehearsal dinner. I’m so grateful that amidst their busy weekend, they were able to break for 30 minutes to take some pretty photos in the city. We soaked up the last rays of the golden hour sun and then finished the session on the most photogenic cobblestone street. I fell in love with every colorful wall, oak tree, and especially this couple! I couldn’t have asked for a better first visit to Charleston, and I am already anxious to go back! Maybe I’ll plan a trip for when it’s a bit warmer; While you can’t tell in the photos, we were freezing during this entire shoot! Grateful for rockstar couples who brave the cold and trust me while I spastically drag them around new locations.
Stay tuned for photos from their wedding at Boone Hall Plantation!
