Just a few years ago, I photographed Lane’s older brother Cameron’s senior photos, and now it’s her turn! Just like Cameron was, Lane is the Drum Major for the marching band at North Oconee High School. And just like with Cameron’s session, we included the whole family for some photos, which is always a blast (and knocks out things like Christmas card pics!). But my favorite part of Lane’s session was that she wanted to include one of her favorite pastimes: Aerial Silks / Fabrics at Canopy Studio. We began the session at the Chase Street Warehouses where Canopy currently resides, and then walked over to a water tower where she got to show off her skills on a rig underneath the tower. It was SO IMPRESSIVE and such a creative challenge for me to photograph.
Canopy is a non-profit community arts center that serves the diverse community in Athens, Georgia. It offers classes in trapeze, fabrics, acrobatics, conditioning, and more. I, personally, have been taking classes at Canopy for about a year now. And just this past week, I took an Intro to Fabrics class which is how I know how difficult Lane’s moves were! In order to serve more people in the community, Canopy is leaving the home they’ve known for two decades and building a BRAND NEW SPACE. And they need our help reaching their goal!
