I am SO excited to share Alyson & Mike‘s wedding day at the Country Club of Roswell with you. I knew the day was going to be amazing when I arrived and was instantly greeted by the bridesmaids jamming out to Taylor Swift’s Reputation album while getting ready. One of the many things I adore about Alyson is that she shares my obsession with T Swift, and she quotes Taylor’s lyrics often (making me feel way more normal!). I also fell in LOVE with Alyson’s dress at first sight, and it was so perfectly “her.” It wasn’t the traditional wedding dress style you often see, but rather a little more “edgy.” And the groomsmen wearing converse?! Ugh, Alyson & Mike are just my type of couple.
Their wedding day was HOT but so joyful and emotional. Alyson teared up when she saw her brother for the first time, and then again when she saw her dad, and then again when Mike read his vows to her during their First Look. And even though everyone was dripping with sweat after the outdoor ceremony, Alyson & Mike toughed it out and let me take 10-15 more minutes of “golden hour” shots of the two of them, which ended up being my favorite photos of the entire day (HINT HINT future couples :)). I was going to write about the way Alyson & Mike met and began dating, but Alyson actually wrote it in her own words, and it’s way too adorable not to share:
“We first met in high school, in band. I was a clarinet player turned colorguard girl. Mike was a percussionist. I knew of Mike and thought he was really cute, but thought he was wayyyy out of my league. He was the strong, silent type that all the girls swoon over and I didn’t think he’d be interested in me in a million years. But apparently, Mike did notice me. He reached out to me during sophomore year of high school. We chatted often but didn’t really admit we each liked each other until later. All throughout high school, we dated different people and were never really single/ready for a relationship at the same time.
We ended up going to the same college, Berry College in Rome, GA. We remained in contact but dated different people. It wasn’t until the summer before senior year that we were both (finally) single at the same time and thought it was about time we figured out if this whole relationship thing would work for us. I remember specifically telling him that if we did date, that it would end up being a life-time thing. Five years later, on our dating anniversary, we got married and started the next chapter of our lives together. How cool is it to be with someone who has seen you through your awkward high school times?!”
