Glory, glory to ole Georgia!
Brittany & Brian’s wedding day at their home church in Georgia was beautiful and packed with meaning for this sweet couple. For one, the wedding was covered in hearts, a symbolic way of including Brittany’s late sister in the festivities, and a symbol Brittany has adorned their apartment with. The wedding also screamed of UGA with the red and black colors (including the bride’s Chaco’s!), “Glory Glory,” and the various bulldogs and footballs plastered around the reception hall. One of the “little details” people might have missed was the fight song as the bride and groom came down the aisle as husband and wife. The ending of Glory Glory was what the Redcoat Band members know as “Angel Tag,” a play on Ode to Joy that the band only plays after victories. Other Bulldog-faithful likely noticed the introduction from the DJ to the “Krypton Fanfare,” a crowd favorite that signals the arrival of the football team (or start of the fourth quarter) in Sanford Stadium on game days. The reception was meant to be a tailgate party, including the chicken tenders, burgers, mac ‘n’ cheese, and slaw paired with a cold soft drink down to the cornhole game and a Dawgs victory playing on the big screen. The idea was to replicate one of the couples’ favorite times of the year — watching the Dawgs play between the hedges in the Fall, something their marriage will include for years to come.
I love that I have been there to capture this couple’s journey over the years, and I am so thankful for their continual support of my work.
