Kacy & I shared the same major at the University of Georgia, which is how we met. Coincidentally, another person in our major, Nick, was the one who introduced Kacy to his best friend Shane, and the rest is history! My favorite part of their story is Shane’s proposal to Kacy. They were about to go on a double date with Nick & his wife when they received a text message saying that Nick had gotten permission to go on the field at Sanford Stadium. Nick said he was going to take his wife & daughter for some pictures before dinner and that Kacy & Shane were welcome to join. This was a dream for Kacy, who is from Athens and has been attending UGA football games her entire life. It was while they were walking around on the field that, to Kacy’s complete surprise, Shane grabbed her hand and got down on one knee. He asked her to marry him to which she responded “Are you serious? Is this for real?!” Shane then pulled out a stunning diamond ring and Kacy said yes. Moments later, Kacy found out that both of her parents were in the stands cheering them on. After the joyful moment, they headed to downtown Athens to have dinner at Kacy’s favorite restaurant — Shokitini. Right before they walked in, Shane said to Kacy “I have one more surprise for you”… and upon opening the doors, Kacy saw seven of her best friends waiting to celebrate with her.
Kacy & Shane tied the knot on January 14th with their ceremony at AFUMC and their reception at The Thompson House & Gardens. January 14th actually happened to be exactly 5 years since I photographed my first wedding, and I loved celebrating by photographing this amazing couple on what was the most PERFECT January day. It was warm & sunny, which allowed us to spend a ton of time outside taking photos. Shane & Kacy had a sweet first look and then shared private vows with each other. And their wedding party was a BLAST. People often think about weddings as stressful or chaotic, but the only way to describe their day was FUN. As usual, Shane kept Kacy laughing the entire time, and I loved watching them soak up every moment together on a day that can go by so quickly. Thank you, Kacy & Shane, for trusting me to capture this joyous occasion and for making my job such a pleasure. And thank you to all the amazing vendors who contributed to their incredible day!
