Kim & Stephan’s wedding day at Vintage Oaks Farm was magical to say the least. After their friends and family said goodbye with a romantic sparkler exit, we parted ways. Kim & Stephan went to continue the party in downtown Athens, and I drove home under the stars feeling like I was on cloud nine. It was one of the most gorgeous, love-filled days I’ve experienced, and I am so grateful to have been entrusted to capture it.
The weeks leading up to the wedding were full of rain, days of 30 degree weather, and lots of unpredictability. Just a day before Kim & Stephan’s wedding, I remember checking the forecast to see 80% chance of rain on their big day. Don’t get me wrong — I was ready and excited for my first ever rainy wedding day. I had umbrellas packed and a plan for some gorgeous rain photos. But it saddened me knowing that Kim & Stephan had really wanted a dry day so people could enjoy the outdoor aspects of the venue and we could get tons of outdoor portraits. Well, despite the awful forecast, not a single drop came from the sky during the day. The sun even came out in the evening and lit up the grounds with a golden mist. It couldn’t have been more perfect. Later that night via Facebook photos, I noticed that other weddings in Athens that day had encountered rain… so with our dry day coupled with my track record, I’m starting to think I’m a good luck charm. ;)
Kim looked absolutely stunning in her wedding dress, and the story behind the dress still melts my heart… The beautiful lace gown has been passed down in the family, first worn by Kim’s grandmother in 1953, and since then worn by her aunts and mother. How beautiful is that?
Kim and Stephan actually met in 8th grade orchestra and reconnected years later through a Facebook post about Terrapin, where they now both work. Of course they incorporated Terrapin into their reception, as well as amazing food by Brett’s Casual American, corn hole, and a photo booth. It was also my first time photographing a wedding at Vintage Oaks Farm, and the venue absolutely blew me away in all aspects. Thank you to everyone who helped make this wedding such a joyous day for this sweet couple!
