Zosia and I connected years ago while both working at the Georgia Renaissance Festival. We had several things in common, such as mutual friends, Polish roots, and ties to Athens, GA. Over the years, Zosia has kept up with my endeavors, even from a distance, and been my biggest supporter. Whenever I have new ideas and passions, she gives me a pep talk and encourages me to chase my dreams. And to say she inspires me would be an understatement. She is strong, courageous, and persevering, and she never lets life’s twists and turns bring her down. Needless to say, I’m awestruck by this woman and so proud to call her a friend.
When she first told me about Curtis, I knew he was different than the guys she had mentioned in the past. But I was still skeptical, because honestly I’ve never believed any guy would be deserving of Zosia. And then I got to meet Curtis myself, and wow… I can’t even imagine a better man for my dear friend.
Because Zosia is in officer training for the Military Police Corps, she & Curtis had a private ceremony back in April that her mom officiated. They wanted to wait till they could gather their friends and family to have a larger ceremony and reception. And when they told me their plans to make it a destination wedding, to rent out a big house in Charleston, and to enjoy a weekend away with their closest friends and family… I couldn’t have thought of anything more perfect. And I was tickled when Zosia asked me to be a part of their weekend.
The house they rented was over 100 years old and was one of the most spectacular homes I’ve stepped foot in. There were staircases upon staircases and more than enough space to fit Zosia & Curtis’s wedding party. We started the day off by getting dressed up and doing an “engagement” style shoot at the Charleston Battery (upon my request, because I’ve been dying to shoot there!). The weather was an absolute dream, and we had fun exploring the area together. Back at the house, we geared up for their ceremony, which was held in the living room. Zosia put on her second dress of the day… a stunning gown that gave me all the “Old Hollywood” vibes. Her mom officiated again, and their sweet huskies were a part of the ceremony as well. It was truly perfect.
I love this couple and I loved getting to capture these sweet moments from their weekend in Charleston.
