I always get nostalgic at the start of a new year. Each January, I go through a complete overhaul of my business, which includes updating images on my website, reorganizing photos, & safely storing all backups of the last year’s weddings. As I’ve dug through my 2015 photos over the past couple weeks, I have loved reliving so many memories. I am so blessed to work with such incredible brides & grooms, and I’m so grateful to have such an outstanding team by my side.
This is my first ever “behind the scenes” post, and while sharing these photos might be a little embarrassing for me (apparently I wore the same 3 outfits to all of my 25 weddings last year?!), I hope they give you an inside peak into what I do… Or at least what I do while shooting. :) Thank you to my assistants for snagging these photos of me working!
First, let me introduce my oh-so-glamorous milk crate that’s always with me & probably deserves a proper name by now…
My assistants are used to running in a million directions on wedding days to ensure the day runs smoothly… :)
I love hanging dresses in trees… and then trying to climb them to get the best angle.
When I actually catch my assistant trying to take behind-the-scenes photos of me, I pose. :)
Sneaking close-ups of the bouquet & ring because I LOVE details…
Dress carrying… another forte of mine.
Then there are the times your assistant catches you having way too much fun at the reception. Oh, and that time my bride pulled me onto the dance floor.
Is it the wind causing the veil to blow? Or is it my assistant tossing it into the air? Answer: It’s about 50/50 so you’ll never know!
Before & After
While perusing through behind-the-scenes photos, it dawned on me that it might be kind of fun to see a “before & after.” Below you can see the way I took a shot & the final photo that resulted.
If you look closely, you’ll see my assistant standing on a table and shaking the cherry blossom tree to produce the photo on the right. Don’t worry, we got permission first!
