One of the greatest honors of being a boudoir photographer is getting to witness my clients grow over the years. A large majority of my clients come back for another session (or 2, or 3…) down the road as life changes, their bodies change, or they just need another confidence boost. It’s actually way easier for me to get repeat clients than new clients, because my repeat clients already KNOW how powerful an experience this is. I don’t have to sell them on it; They know it’s worth every penny to walk out of the studio with more love for yourself and belief in your capabilities. It’s been described to me as a “high” from past clients, and so naturally it’s something they seek out again and again. Which means I get to witness them during different seasons, and that’s absolutely beautiful to me.
The images in this blog are of all different women, but I wanted to share the STORY of just one: Camille. She first came to my studio in 2019 and then returned in 2024 after 5 years of incredible change and growth. The coolest part is that I’m going to tell you her story through her own words, as she wrote me a testimonial after both sessions. :)
2019 Camille:
“My breast size has been the most frustrating part of my body for the past five years. I said goodbye to cute bras and thin tank tops and dresses when my breasts seemed to suddenly appear overnight a few years ago. Bathing suit season quickly became the part of the year that I absolutely despised. After having a child 6 months ago, my body went back to an even smaller size than it was before, but unfortunately, my breast size stayed the same. After talking with my husband, I made the decision to explore the option of a breast reduction. My breasts had gotten too large to “flaunt” and my viewpoint of them held nothing but negative thoughts. It was also during this time that Claire made an Instagram post about boudoir sessions…
Because I knew Claire well from photographing our wedding and remembered how comfortable she made my husband and I feel, I decided to book a session. She was so helpful at the beginning of the process, answering questions and suggesting outfit ideas. The actual session was enjoyable, comfortable and left me feeling confident in EVERY aspect of my body. My least favorite thing about my body, my breasts, quickly turned into one of my favorite parts of my body with the help of Claire’s enthusiasm during the photo shoot, sweet compliments, and the way that she captured them in photographs.
It was not a coincidence that during my session, the plastic surgeon’s office called to inform me that my breast reduction had been approved by insurance and that I could go ahead and schedule my surgery. It was in that moment, when I listened to the voicemail in the midst of outfit changes, I realized that I needed to take a step back and think about my decision. All of a sudden a part of my body that I had seen in such a negative light for five years quickly faded into a positive one, to the extent that I actually started to love that part about myself.
In my 29 years on this earth, I’ve never felt more confident in myself than I do now. The pictures she captured are a treasure not only to my husband, but most importantly, to myself. How can you spread love when you have a hard time loving yourself? If you are the least bit interested in having a boudoir session, DO IT. As women, we owe it to ourselves to love, appreciate and treasure every single fraction of our body that God designed in His own eyes. Thank you, Claire, for fulfilling every goal you stated. Those few hours I spent at your boudoir cottage were well worth it and brought me more confidence than I can put into words.”
2024 Camille:
“In April 2019, I had my first boudoir experience with Claire. I was 6 months postpartum from my first born, still breastfeeding, and dealing with a lot of insecurities about my body — I was super skinny, had no rear end, and above all, had the biggest and heaviest breasts imaginable. I enjoyed my time with Claire, absolutely loved the pictures that came from it, and most importantly, learned to embrace the skin I was in at the time (even deciding to call off a surgical procedure because of my new confidence).
Five years later, as a now mother of two, and finally healed from a breast reduction in 2023 (yes — it ultimately HAD to happen due to extreme backaches), I decided it was time to treat myself to another session with Claire. Her style and studio had changed since my last session, and so had my body.
The new images from this second boudoir experience, to me, represent the change not only in my body, but more importantly in my self confidence. I can honestly look at the new images and love every single part of my body. The scars from a surgery that improved my quality of life, the increased fat around my abdomen area because I am healthier, and most importantly, knowing that I’m living a life completely represented by the laughter and the smiles in the photos. Thank you, Claire!”
