Buckle up for one of the COOLEST proposals I’ve photographed.
Alec & Gabbie met through a mutual friend and the first 4 years of their relationship were pretty much spent on the rink. Alec played hockey, and they’d frequently go ice skating with their group of friends. Because Alec has connections with the Akins Ford Arena where the Rock Lobsters play in Athens, he told Gabbie that they were allowed to go skating for his birthday, since the rink was already set up for “Summer Skate” which began the next day. So they took their adorable son, Knox, for a skate on the way to dinner.
Ironically Gabbie decided that she didn’t actually want to get sweaty before dinner, so she chose not to put skates on once they got there. But Alec still got her onto the ice… and then the lights dimmed, spotlights appeared, and Alec skated back over to Gabbie with roses and Knox holding a ring box.
To say Gabbie was surprised would be an understatement. As soon as she said yes, “Congratulations” banners lit up around the arena and their close friends & family appeared cheering from the Club box.
There were a lot of tears and a lot of joy, and I’m so grateful I got to capture the moment (first in hiding, and then I got to go out on the ice as well).
