I know Amy & Bobby through the wedding industry — they just so happen to be my FAVORITE videography team, Bob’s Eye View. It’s always an exciting day when I find out that we’re working another wedding together. And it was a VERY exciting day when they reached out and asked if I could take photos of them to celebrate their 8 year anniversary. We then obtained access to shoot at one of my favorite venues, The Farm at High Shoals, which made it even more special. One of the things I’ve been so grateful for over the last year is realizing how much of a community I’ve found in the wedding industry. At some weddings, I get to work with ALL my favorite vendors, and it really just feels like a group of friends coming together to make something magical happen for a sweet couple.
Photographing Amy & Bobby was a blast, as I totally expected. They’re one of those couples that just have so much fun together and constantly make each other laugh. And nothing is “too crazy” for them… I’ve seen Bobby climb trees and hang upside down to “get the shot” on a wedding day. So I guess I shouldn’t have been surprised when they told me they wanted to jump into the pool at the end of the session. I’m just jealous that I didn’t jump in with them, because this was one of the HOTTEST sessions I’ve ever done. You can’t tell in the photos, but we were dripping with sweat, had makeup running & hair sticking, etc. So many of my couples are scared of looking sweaty in their photos, but this shoot is actually a really good example of how amazing people still look even if they feel like a hot mess at the time.
I was also SHOCKED to find out that Amy & Bobby have NEVER had their photos professionally taken… they actually got married at a courthouse and didn’t even have a wedding photographer! To be fair, since they do photo & video, they have quite a few professional-looking tripod photos of themselves. :) But I was honored to give them a taste of what it feels like to be in front of another professional’s camera.
