Brides like Marissa make my heart soar… She’s been following my work for years (I know this to be true because I frequently saw her name “liking” my posts on Facebook), and when driving back from Ruby Falls the night that Derrek proposed to her, she told him she had already chosen a wedding photographer (!!!). She was then quick to contact me and ask me about my availability for a date nearly two years in the future. And when I told her I didn’t book that far out? She waited patiently until my calendar opened up. *swoon* There’s nothing photographers love more than working with clients who LOVE their work.
I also love that she & Derrek chose a location for their engagement session off of my RAD Engagement Session Ideas blog. It was my first time shooting at Ponce City Market / the Beltline in Atlanta, and it’s even more amazing than I had guessed! We explored new places and came upon graffiti walls, tall field grass, Christmas lights, and all the trendy decor/architecture you could imagine. The location was perfect for this couple too, because Derrek loves anything urban / city-esque, and Marissa was happy as long as she got some photos with nature. Turns out, not only was the backdrop perfect, but so was the weather! And the fall colors were right at their peak.
I can’t wait for their upcoming wedding at the Conservatory at Waterstone! Thank you, Marissa & Derrek, for enjoying this beautiful day with me and for trusting me with your memories.
