Cara & Matt met in July 2014 when Cara’s realtor set them up on a sneaky double-date turned blind-date. Talk about going above and beyond… She found Cara a house & a husband! They got engaged in Chicago & are tying the knot in Sarasota, FL later this year. I loved taking Cara & Matt’s engagement photos in Piedmont Park in Atlanta (where they both live & work). We were blessed with a beautiful and sunny day during what was a VERY cold week, and they were so much fun to photograph! I quickly noticed that Matt would sneak loving glances at Cara even while I was talking to them, so I tried to be quick on my trigger during the session to capture these little moments of affection.
I also was in detail-heaven when I saw Cara’s engagement ring. Matt completely designed it himself & put so much thought into it. He described his vision to a jeweler… that he wanted it to be their unique flower. He chose a pear diamond which resembles the flower’s petals and is “elevated” above the flower’s base. And when you look closely around and underneath the pear, it’s surrounded by various “sepals” for support. Basically? It’s shiny in all directions and despite being “freaked out about the ring process,” I’d say Matt did a pretty darn good job.
