Those who know me know that I love rural areas. I love large open fields, wild flowers, and lots of trees. I’m very used to shooting at lakes and rustic barns. What I’m not used to, and what makes me a little anxious, is cities. I’ve never been a city girl, and I don’t shoot in big cities very often. That’s why Lauren & Eric’s engagement session was such a cool experience for me. Both Lauren & Eric went to Georgia Tech, and they wanted to take their engagement photos on campus. I’ll admit, I was a little nervous at first… For starters, where do I even park? The whole thing was new to me, but it ended up being one of the coolest sessions I’ve ever done. I was blown away by the architecture and geometric lines in the buildings. I felt like we encountered something different around every corner, and I was constantly inspired by the creativity that existed at Tech. And when I first saw the city skyline from a rooftop, I lit up in excitement. Who knew buildings could be so beautiful?
I want to thank Lauren & Eric for showing me around their turf and for being so fun to photograph. We started at Tech Tower, which I hear is a pretty big icon for the school (like UGA’s Arch), walked through the Clough Learning Commons, and ended up in the gorgeous glass stairwell where Eric proposed (where I also saw the Tech hawk?!). This session definitely took me out of my comfort zone and left me itching to photograph in the city again. I can’t wait for this sweet couple’s wedding in October!
