Nick had reached out to me about proposing to his girlfriend on Valentine’s Day, and seeing as I’m single and otherwise would’ve been snuggled up on the couch with my dog, I thought celebrating someone else’s relationship was a GREAT way to spend the afternoon. Love is my favorite, and I’m basically a professional third wheel at this point (the life of a wedding photographer)
So I met up with Nick in advance and we chose a location where I could be discreet while still capturing the sweet moment. He chose the State Botanical Gardens of Georgia because it’s where he and Aarushi had their first date. Planning a surprise proposal can be stressful… especially when the weather throws you a curveball. As we got closer to the weekend and saw COLD and RAINY on the forecast, I started to panic a little; I didn’t think it’d be easy to convince a girl to voluntarily walk around outside in cold rain. But fortunately the rain subsided in time for the big moment, and Nick had sold it as recreating their first date for Valentine’s Day. Needless to say, Aarushi was thrilled. And I think you can see how happy they were in these photos.
We had so much fun walking around, hopping over puddles, and taking pictures after Nick popped the question, and they even showed me some of their dance moves (Aarushi is a dance teacher!). Congrats, Nick & Aarushi, and thank you for letting me capture this special moment.
