It all started with a TARDIS…..
Ashley & Nick met in a Sunday School class at McEachern Memorial UMC when Ashley noticed that Nick’s Yeti had a TARDIS engraving. Being a huge Doctor Who fan, Ashley sat down next to Nick and commented on the Yeti. Both of them had an instant attraction to one another, and after a few months of texting, Nick finally worked up the courage to ask Ashley out on a date. Fast forward to Valentine’s Day when Nick surprised Ashley with dinner at their favorite restaurant on the Marietta Square. It was that evening on the square that Nick got down on one knee with a TARDIS ring box and asked Ashley to marry him, which she says was “the easiest question I’ve ever been asked.” Check out their engagement photos to see pictures at the square where it all happened.
Today, on Valentine’s Day, exactly a year after Nick proposed to Ashley, we had a big Reveal at the studio to look at their wedding photos! They got married in January at the church where they first met, and it was such a joyful day… even at 30 degrees with GUSTY winds. It was really one of the coldest wedding days I’ve photographed, but you can’t tell in the photos because they were all troupers (and I didn’t keep them outside for any length of time).
It was an early wedding with a brunch reception (my FAVE), which allowed Ashley & Nick to take even more photos after the reception ended because we still had daylight. It was so nice getting to have uninterrupted time with them after the main “timeline” of the day had ended. My favorite thing about this couple is that they truly enjoy each other’s presence more than anything, and they made sure to craft a timeline that allowed for them to spend the bulk of the day together. They’re constantly laughing and making googly eyes at each other, and it just doesn’t get any cuter.
Other things I loved about their wedding include Ashley’s emotional first look with her dad, how Ashley & Nick thanked each of their guests for attending while serving communion during the ceremony, and the choreographed father-daughter dance at the reception. I also love how many sentimental details were included in the day… such as Ashley wearing her mom’s veil, the TARDIS ring box & garter, her late grandmother’s bible on her dad’s side, her late grandmother’s wedding planning book on her mom’s side, a shawl hand knitted by Ashley’s “second mom” to keep her warm on the day-of, etc. etc. The entire day was a labor of love from family & friends, and it was everything Ashley & Nick had dreamed of.
I could go on and on about this day and how much I adore this couple, but I’ll stop so you can see the LOVE for yourself in the photos below.
Congrats, Mr. & Mrs. Kammerdiener!!
