I had never met Alex & Will before they reached out about their wedding, but they’ve quickly become two of my favorite people. They are both super compassionate people and extreme animal lovers. In fact, they met through their mutual love of dogs. Will is a police K-9 officer, and Alex had been filming a show about police K-9s when a mutual friend suggested they meet. They obliged, and their first date lasted for almost 6 hours and felt completely natural. They’ve been pretty inseparable ever since.
Alex & Will knew from early on that they were headed toward marriage. It was never a secret, and Alex actually reached out to get on my calendar before they were officially engaged. I was flattered that she wanted to involve me in the process before having even chosen a date or venue. I remember hitting it off during our first phone conversation as we talked about different venues and the unique “quirks” my dog Ladybug has — Alex is actually a professional dog trainer and gave me fantastic tips on how to calm Ladybug’s anxiety. I knew after that one phone conversation that she was — as Will would call her — an “angel.”
Fast forward to their actual proposal. Will had contacted me about surprising Alex by setting up their engagement session for the afternoon of the proposal. I was intrigued and a little worried, as most of my brides like being involved in planning such events. However, Will knocked it out of the park. He proposed in the morning while walking their dogs… They were playing fetch in their favorite grassy spot when Will asked Alex to look at what had suddenly appeared on a dog’s collar (a fake ring!). By the time she stood back up, Will was kneeling with an engagement ring while their close friend Amy Jo Photography was hiding in the bushes capturing the moment. From there, Will explained that he had a hair & makeup appointment scheduled and that later in the day they’d be taking their engagement photos with me! You can read more and view their engagement session here.
Their wedding day at Neverland Farms was such a gorgeous and joyful day. Alex surprised everyone by entering the ceremony on horseback, and the reactions from her guests were priceless. Their dog, Daisy, was one of the flower girls and stole the show as she came down the aisle. After the ceremony, Alex & Will climbed a fence in order to take photos in a beautiful pasture during the golden hour, and Alex laughed when a horse began eating her bouquet and when they almost stepped in poop. I mean… coolest bride ever, right?! Will kept Alex smiling and laughing the entire day, per usual, and they danced the night away while the Royal Suits rocked the house.
There are so many other things I loved about their day, but you’ll just have to see for yourself in the photos! :) Thank you, Alex & Will, for trusting me to capture this special occasion.
