Erin & Robby met on Georgia Tech’s campus while Robby was working on his Ph.D. in mechanical engineering and Erin was working as a private tutor for the athletic department. We did their engagement session on Tech’s campus, and their wedding this past December was held at the Historic Academy of Medicine at Georgia Tech.
From the time she was a little girl, Erin had always dreamed of a Christmas wedding… and the day she & Robby enjoyed exceeded her wildest dreams. Not even the rain got in the way. It actually rained the ENTIRE day, but that was okay because the inside of their venue was stunning… black and white marble floors, the chandelier from Gone With The Wind, and a red couch that happened to match their wedding colors perfectly.
I don’t think I’ve ever cried as much on a wedding day as I did during Erin & Robby’s. There were so many emotional moments… like when Erin gifted Robby with a table she had made with all of his race numbers and a note that read “Marriage is the only race I’ll ever run, and I’m so lucky to have you as my teammate.” Or when Robby gifted Erin with a transcript of his proposal to her. I don’t think a smile left Erin’s face the entire day, and the joy was contagious.
This day was also extra special to me because Erin has been one of the biggest and longest followers of my work. She found me nearly 7 years ago on Facebook and has kept up with my photography ever since! She even told her twin sister Caitlin about me, whose wedding I photographed in 2016. It’s always special when I get to photograph the same family multiple times, and I am so grateful for the amount of trust Erin & Robby bestowed upon me.
Other things that I loved about their day:
- The tear-jerking toasts from their friends and family
- When Buzz made a surprise appearance at the reception
- It was raining outside, so they did an indoor exit with jingle bells and a bagpipe player, and it was so joyful
- Erin’s stepdad made their ceremony backdrop
- I got to work with some of my FAVORITE vendors, including Georgia Grace Weddings, D Street Entertainment, and Holland Daze
All in all, I can’t imagine a more perfect match than Erin & Robby or a more perfect day to begin their life together. Congratulations, Erin & Robby!
