Katie & Travis, like so many of my couples these days, met online! Their first date was to Dave and Busters in October of 2015, and they hit it off so well that they decided to go to Dahlonega Gold Rush the very next day! They picked pumpkins, walked through sunflower fields, ate pizza, and enjoyed tons of great conversation that first weekend together… and they’ve spent pretty much every weekend together ever since!
This past August, they received Air Force orders for Travis’s pilot training and learned that they’d be moving to Mississippi in February. Instead of putting off their dream wedding, they decided to plan it in the 5 months before they moved! And their AMAZING wedding is proof that it CAN be done!
I was honored when Katie initially reached out to me — they weren’t even “officially” engaged yet and hadn’t begun the wedding planning process, but she wanted to check my availability and get some advice. Everyone knows I LOVE talking about weddings, creating timelines, and helping couples compile an amazing team of vendors for their big day! We emailed back and forth while Katie & Travis continued to research their options, and ultimately they ended up booking the venue I had told them about — Empire Mills — one of my bucket list venues to shoot at, and it did not disappoint! My only complaint is that there were too many gorgeous backdrops to choose from during the wedding day!
Not only that, but they also ended up going with my #1 videographer recommendation, #1 DJ recommendation, #1 hair & makeup recommendation, etc. I know I’m a little biased, but I thought everything came together PERFECTLY. And despite the horrible weather forecast (100% chance of rain), we only dealt with a slight drizzle for a few minutes. It truly was a dream day for this sweet couple, who then immediately left for their honeymoon and then immediately moved to Mississippi where Travis will be in pilot training for the next 13 months. Such a whirlwind, but I’m glad they fought to make all their dreams come true before they left on their big adventure.
I have so much love for this couple and wish they could’ve done an in-person Reveal so I could’ve hugged them again, but I wasn’t about to ask them to travel even more after the hectic month they’ve had! We just got off Skype, and I am SO happy to get to share these wedding photos with you. I’m still swooning over how perfect this day was. Thank you to everyone who collaborated in putting this day together.
